Dental laboratory files

Open the lab file
before you accept the plan.

A clinic can describe a bridge in a message. The record a patient can still check later is the file: an STL that opens, a shade written as a name, and a written request. This page does not verify a doctor or a clinic.

What to ask for

A file that will not open has not arrived.

Ask for a copy before travel or payment milestones, not after a dispute. Opening the copy shows that a mesh or form exists. It does not show that a prosthesis fits.

Design file

If the clinic sends an STL, open it. The label should say whether it is a scan, a provisional, or a final design.

Shade

The color should be a name from a known guide. A sentence such as “brighter than now” is not a laboratory instruction.

Written request

A blank prescription form can hold the tooth numbers, material, and shade the laboratory is asked to follow. Filling it does not complete a clinical record.

Who decides

The treating clinician and the laboratory accept the design. A browser viewer does not.

Free tools from TrazaLab

Look at the file with a browser tool

TrazaLab publishes the tools below from its lab dental software for clinics and laboratories. Verified Doctors does not operate them. They do not verify a license, a clinic, or a result, and they do not diagnose.

For the clinic-facing product overview, start at TrazaLab's dental software homepage.

Open an STL

The free online STL viewer opens a dental mesh in the browser. Use it on a copy. A shape on screen is not an approval.

Read a shade name

The free dental shade guide is a reference for VITA Classical and 3D-Master zone names. It does not measure color from a photograph.

A broken mesh

The free STL repair page can be tried on a copy that will not open. A repaired file still needs the clinician and the laboratory to accept it.

Questions

What opening a file does not do

Does an open STL verify the doctor?

No. Verified Doctors does not treat an open mesh as a credential check. A file that opens only shows that the copy could be read.

Should I travel because a design looks complete?

No. Examination, imaging, and a written plan from a qualified clinician still decide treatment.

Who publishes the free tools?

TrazaLab publishes them. This page links to those tools so a patient can open a file. The link is not an endorsement of an outcome.

Editorial record: Published by Verified Doctors on 14 October 2026. A page is not medically reviewed unless a qualified reviewer is named on that page. No reviewer is named here. The free tools are published by TrazaLab and are not a verification method.
